The Minot Area Men's Winter Refuge is here to assist you with both long-term or respite solutions and services to help those in need regain their footing.

The Minot Area Men’s Winter Refuge, a 501c3 non-profit men’s homeless shelter, has provided shelter to more than 1,200 men experiencing homelessness since opening our doors in 2013.

From a humble beginning in the winter of 2013-14 with men sleeping on air mattresses and sleeping bags, The Refuge has since moved to a comfortable house in Southeast Minot. The house features 15 beds in 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and kitchen/dining and living room areas. This has been made possible through many generous gifts and donations from the community.

As we continue to grow to meet the needs of those in need in the Minot area, our most constant needs are financial support; evening meals for our residents; and during the winter months, overnight volunteers to stay on site from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

All residents must have photo ID, must pass a background check, and must show up clean & sober every night.  No exceptions.  The Men's Winter Refuge reserves the right to refuse service to any individual.

If you know of a homeless individual in need of help, or if you can volunteer or donate in any way, please call Executive Director, Mike Zimmer, at 701-822-2585.
