The Minot Area Men's Winter Refuge is here to assist you with both long-term or respite solutions and services to help those in need regain their footing.
The Minot Area Men’s Winter Refuge, a non-profit men’s homeless shelter, is open from November 1 to April 30.
From a humble beginning in the winter of 2013-14 with men sleeping on air mattresses and sleeping bags, The Refuge has since moved to a comfortable house in Southeast Minot. The house features 15 beds in 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and kitchen/dining and living room areas. This has been made possible through many generous gifts and donations from the community.
As we continue to grow to meet the needs of homeless men in our community, our most constant need is overnight volunteers to stay at The Refuge from 7:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. We also need volunteer drivers to drive our passenger van each day for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening.
All residents must have photo ID, must pass a background check, and must show up clean & sober every night. No exceptions.
If you know of a homeless individual in need of help, or if you can volunteer or donate in any way, please call Executive Director, Mike Zimmer, at 701-822-2585.
